1500mm 4 channel FMS Let L-13 glider - Receiver Ready (PNP) - FMS070
FMS L13 Glider build review
The build quality of this L13 is good for this price range. All parts screwed together with ease. The servos are all standard 9g. Building this plane is fairly straight forward. The wing and elevator are two pieces and use spars to reinforce their strength. The elevator required two screws and the wings required 4 screws. We completed the build in a little over an hour. Both elevator pushrods are connected to a single servo so we adjusted the linkage mechanically to get even throws. This added a few minutes to the build.
FMS L13 Flight Review
We flew the L13 using a 2S 1300mAh 30C LiPo pack. We tried a 20C pack and noticed flight performance suffered. We would recommend at least 25C. This is definitely not a quick performance plane but power is adequate to pull the plane up to a good altitude and shut the motor down for gliding. Please don't expect a performance plane - this is a glider. That said, there was just enough power to pull off a loop and rolls can be achieved albeit very slowly and with a lot of elevator input during the roll. This is all typical of a glider so we expected nothing different. If you are in the mood for a nice relaxing flight, this is a great plane. While we would not call this a pure trainer or beginner plane, it is a good plane for advanced beginners though perhaps not a plane to start with as a first plane. Cooling was adequate with an inlet hole and exit hole for cooling air. Hand launches are very easy with a built it spot to grip the plane and landings were as easy as they come. There are even built in plastic wing tip protectors and a wheel on the belly to keep the foam in good shape. We think everyone from advanced beginners to advanced pilots will enjoy the relaxing flight characteristics of this FMS L13.
Note: some customers have tried a 3S LiPo pack. While the ESC can handle 3S and even 4S LiPo battery voltages, it cannot handle the amperage. The motor and prop will pull greater than 20A from the 3S LiPo which will quickly overheat and destroy the ESC. Motion RC and FMS cannot be held responsible for failures caused by exceeding the recommended 2S LiPo pack voltage specifications.
